I just finished reading the line up of cancelled and upcoming tv shows. It was a long list and I could honestly say I hadn’t heard of 3/4 of them and the most of the ones I had heard of I didn’t really know what was going on.
On my part, this is not a pietistic move to separate from the world, instead I work a lot and I have a young family to care for. I just don’t have time.
But I realized something, that was kind of freeing, not being so connected to all of that tv and I really didn’t miss it or care about all of the made up drama. I’ve decided that I like this and as a Christian I actually have much better things to do with my time then live it through someone else.
In the book of Proverbs 8:1 it says:
“Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise her voice?”
I think, as a Christian, when I feel this way about being freed from the tv, that is wisdom calling in my life, to use my time better and more wisely, to use it to grow deeper in my love of God and serving my neighbor. Maybe I should listen, what do you think? Are there places in your life wisdom is calling too?
Wisdom calls each of us to be in Worship and receive the Word of God and the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, where we are loved by God, grow together and serve Jesus.
