For God so loved the world that he gave his Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
This is easily one of the most memorized and popular lines of Scripture, but because of how familiar it is to us, it also becomes one of the easiest lines of Scripture to forget the importance of.
One tool that I use to help remember how important this little verse is, is by taking out some of the words and replacing them with my name. For God so loved Philip.
Try this yourself:
For God so loved____________ that He gave His Son that because _________________ believes in Him _______________ will not perish but have eternal life.
If you try this, this little verse becomes personal, it’s for me.
But also for the people we love. If we are worried about them, say this verse with their name in it, in a prayer. If they have passed away into glory, say this verse with their name in it.
Remember that your Heavenly Father knows you by name and sent His Son to you, so you would have eternal life.
