Have you ever been thirsty? Really, really thirsty?
I remember years ago when Shiloh and I were in central Mexico on a mission trip to help build a home for disabled children. The work was hard and hot underneath that unforgiving sun and available clean water was very hard to come by.
I was thirsty. Really, really thirsty.
You ever experience that?
We can compare that kind of thirst to the things that we seek after in life. Whatever it is that you are pursuing or trying to have, does it every really quench your thirst? Not usually, there is almost always something else that we are looking for to quench our thirst.
Jesus tells us that while water may be everywhere, not all of it is good to drink and there is only one water that completely satisfies, that is Jesus Christ.
Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:13-14
Jesus gives to us the living water that comes from God, a water that is as big as God and as deep as his love and we can never go thirsty when we are filled with His life giving water.
