Last week I took my family to see “Opera under the Stars” in the town square near my home. It was a special outdoor performance of traditional opera. The performer’s voices were beautiful instruments they used to sing some beautiful songs.
It reminded of this passage from Romans 6:13:
Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.
Present your members to God as instruments of righteousness! What a great way of seeing ourselves. Like me, even if you can’t sing, our voices, words and tones all are instruments that can be played to produce a song.
Who are we letting play our instruments? Are they tools of sin that produce a song of anger and brokenness? Not a great song to hear. Or is Jesus playing the instrument and producing a song of beauty and grace.
Remember this week, present your instruments, your voice and all you have, to Jesus, for him to produce beautiful music through us.
