Where Is Your Security in 2019?

Already for many of my church families this new year has brought and will continue to bring significant changes, losses, and even a very important celebration. It’s a changing time and this year will no doubt bring many more changes to come.

This Sunday is Epiphany, when we remember and celebrate the Wise Men from the East delivering their gifts to the young Jesus and his family. Their story of seeking the star to find the new king is one that is told every year and it draws a lesson for us as well.

In this coming year, with all of the changes that have already happened and are yet to come, where are you going to seek your stability, your comfort, and your peace during every change in life?

Like the wise men, to live this life wisely, we too seek after Jesus in every moment and change because Jesus is the only one who never changes and will always be our security and comfort no matter what life brings.

So, seek Jesus, this week, this Sunday with a good church family, and all of this new year long. He will comfort you and hold you securely through every change and chance of life.

I am a recovering burned out workaholic who forgot I couldn't change the world. From the ashes of that not only have I found a peace from God that I never knew but a focus on what matters, God, family and loving my neighbor as God has loved me. My burning out experiences really drive my writing and how much I want to share all of the good God has worked through the hurt I've experienced. Currently I serve a great little parish in Northern Ohio with my wonderful family and our furry farm of five dogs, four cats and the oddball handful of fish.
